Overview

PanoMap is a powerful software application that provides immediate access to laser scanning data, supports both review and modeling functions, and easily integrates with existing 3D CAD models.

Key Features

  • Simplifies workflow by enabling immediate access to scanning data -- it is never necessary to generate a CAD surface model first!
  • Review laser scan data of unlimited size; not required to simplify or decimate point cloud data for viewing purposes
  • Compatible with virtually any laser scanner
  • Import/export 3D models from a variety of CAD formats, including AutoCAD DWG, PDS, MicroStation DGN, PDMS, IGES, SmartPlant 3D, and others

  • Generate drawings in AutoCAD DWG and Postscript formats which contain all annotations, redlines, and modeling geometry
  • Generation of 2D Orthographic and Perspective Drawings directly from scanned data
  • Fully-independent software; no AutoCAD or MicroStation license required for operation
  • Full 3D measuring and dimensioning capabilities
  • Add tags and labels
  • Redlining and annotation capability
  • Verified compatibility with the following scanners: LEICA, Z+F, FARO, TRIMBLE, QUANTAPOINT, or any scanner capable of generating data in XYZ format
  •

    PanoMap

CSA’s PanoMap software is an effective tool for fast and easy review of the scanned space. Inside a panoramic environment, it provides the ability to determine 3D locations, calculate measurements, and place dimensions.

Dimensions and annotations are stored within a database associated with scans, and can be viewed from any scan that contains the dimensioned points.

PanoMap can read directly the "point cloud" data generated by a variety of scanners - there is no need to convert, or decimate, the laser scan data before review! By registering the point cloud files together, a single "Master Model" is generated. The Master Model contains all dimensions, annotations, and estimated geometry in a single plant database.

    Design Merged with Scan Data

Tags and Labels - Access to Plant Documents and Databases

CSA provides a facility that enables the user to place component tags within the scanned space. Component Tags represent ID’s for Equipment, Pipes, Valves, Electrical, Junction Boxes, Instruments, etc.

The labels become part of the 3D space (rather than attached to a particular scan only). The same labels may appear in more than one scan (different view of the area).

The tags provide access to other applications and systems such as Document Control, Maintenance applications, Plant Equipment Lists, Intelligent P&IDs, etc.

Drawings generated from scans also contain the tags and labels.

    Orthographic Drawing Production

PanoMap technology provides very effective 2D orthographic drawing production support.

Using this feature, the user can generate 2D drawings directly from scan data.

The drawings can be transferred to AutoCAD or MicroStation and used as a background for new design or as-building applications.

    Creation of Surface CAD Model

PanoMap/LSSM technology provides high-quality 3D CAD surface model generation.

This representation is updated into a 3D CAD master model.

Interface is provided to other CAD systems such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, etc.

This representation is also used for automatic interference checking.

Interface to Real-Time 3D Walkthrough Application - Walkinside

CSA’s surface 3D CAD model or "Point Cloud" data can be transferred to Walkinside for real-time walkthrough of the plant.

Interface Between 3D CAD Model and Scan Data

PanoMap provides a real-time interface between 3D CAD model and PanoMap representation. The PanoMap format and 3D CAD model are maintained within the same coordinate system. The user can switch between 3D representation and laser scan format, as required.

    Redlining and Annotation Functionality

The PanoMap environment includes redlining and annotation functionality, which enable the user the ability to mark up a component that would require some action (removal, demolition, testing, inspection, etc.)

Dimensions/redlines/annotations are visible on drawings generated from the scans.

The drawings contain vector geometry (representing dimensions and annotations), and raster geometry (which represents the scanned area).

Drawings are produced in perspective format, in standard North/East/South/West views.

      PanoMap Availability

CSA’s PanoMap software is available in two versions:

PanoMap "Lite" version Provides all viewing capabilities
